What an ID photo has to get right
Korean passports, driver's licenses and ID cards all use a 35×45mm photo, a size shared by many countries. Size is only part of it. The head, measured from the crown (not the hair) to the chin, must be 32 to 36mm tall, the background must be white and the photo must be recent. US passports and visas use a 2×2 inch square with a head of 1 to 1⅜ inches. Home-made photos fail most often on head size and background.
How to use it
Choose a size and drop in a photo. The tool finds your face and crops automatically. In the preview, the dark line marks the crown and the red band shows where the chin has to land. If the chin sits inside the band, the head size is within the rule. Use the size, up/down and left/right sliders if something looks off. Then use Save photo for the digital file or Save 4×6 print sheet for a sheet with several copies. If an online form has a file size limit, use 'Continue with' to send it to the image compressor.
It checks, it does not retouch
Passport rules reject photos with digitally replaced backgrounds or heavily retouched faces. So this tool never swaps the background or edits your face. It flags the usual rejection reasons instead: more than one face, a turned head, closed eyes, an open mouth, a background that is not white, or a resolution too low to print. A tilted photo is straightened to eye level.
Taking the photo at home
Stand a step away from a white wall and face a window or a light so there are no shadows on your face or the wall. Hold the phone at eye level about 1.5m away to avoid distortion, and leave room above your head and down to your shoulders so there is margin to crop. Glasses should show no glare and hair should not cover your eyes. The checks catch common mistakes, but the office that receives the photo makes the final call.

Is my photo uploaded?
No. The face detection model (MediaPipe) is downloaded into your browser and runs on your device. Your photo and the result never leave it.
Which sizes are supported?
35×45mm with a 32 to 36mm head (Korean passport, driver's license and ID card, also used by many other countries), 30×40mm for resumes, and the US passport and visa 2×2 inch format with a 25 to 35mm head.
Will it change my background or retouch my face?
No. Passport rules in Korea, the US and elsewhere reject photos with digitally replaced backgrounds or heavy retouching. This tool only crops and checks, and it tells you when the background does not look white.
How do I print it?
Use 'Save 4×6 print sheet' and print the file at 4×6 in (10×15cm) at a photo kiosk, lab or print app, then cut along the lines. A 35×45mm sheet holds eight photos.
Does it guarantee acceptance?
No tool can. Acceptance also depends on lighting, expression, glasses and how recent the photo is. Treat the checks as a way to catch the common problems before you submit.
